Sign System 1.0 is an art installation that adds a layer of non-rational information or possible realities to a given public environment in order to guide people to get lost.

The project was developed, installed and exhibited during the symposium "Mythological Europe Revisited, Humanism and the Third Millenium" at "La Fratta" a mediaeval village in Sinalunga, Tuscany. A system of writen messages each commenting their own specific locations, was placed anonymously inside and outside the village where the visitors where living during the symposium. In the garden, near the exit gate, inside the handdrawer in someones room, at the fireplace that looks exactly like the fireplace in the other building, at the toilet mirror, among factual informations at the public notice-board, in the well and other places.

The symposium was organized by the philosopher Fons Elders / Forum 2001 Foundation in collaboration with the Arnhem Institute for the Arts.
Sign System 1.0, sitespecific art installation, 1998.

Field of work: Development of artistic concept, site research, composing and installation of messages.
