Different levels of value. Danske Bank needed a new design for their series of creditcards due to the introduction of the chipbased "smartcard"-technology.
The challenge of the design was to give an impression of "value" when holding a plastic card in your hand and to create a clear visual differentiation between the cards in the series without compromising the belonging of Danske Bank. The solution is based on the idea of the materiality and texture from different natural materials and objects (such as shells, pearls, different noble metals, etc.) though transformed into a very simple, geometric visual language. Together with the colourcombinations the different-sized patterns forms a visual, hierarchic system that sorts the cards by levels of value (the more exclusive the card - the more delicate the details). In order to work with the sense of materiality as part of the design solution - a proces of research and testings on extraordinary production methods, materials and printing techniques was intitiated. The project is made for Kontrapunkt in collaboration with Danske Bank. |
